No Surprise to God

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made . . . .”  Psalm 139:14

Psalm 139 is one of my favorite scriptures.  It revives and refreshes my spirit every time I read it.  Psalm 139 affirms that none of us is a surprise to God.  It acknowledges that God made us on purpose for a purpose before the beginning of time.

It fascinates me to think that God knew, before I was born, the color of my eyes; the number and placement of every bone, every vein, and every corpuscle in my body.  It intrigues me to think that God knew how many times my heart would beat and break, even before I had a heart.  It amazes me that God numbered every single hair on my head.  Yes, you and I were fearfully and wonderfully formed and knitted together in our mother’s wombs by the master Creator who is well acquainted with all of our ways.

I embrace the fact that before I was known by anyone–God knew me.  Before I knew what love was–God loved me unconditionally; with all of my quirks, with all of my faults, with all of my fears, with all of my imperfections, God loved and still loves me.

What a Blessing to know that I am never forgotten and never alone.  I am grateful to be unique, special, and no surprise to God.
