I am Reverend Bonita Owens (affectionately known as Ebony Woman of Grace). I am a woman of God who cherishes life, learning, and people. I am committed to the inspiration and personal empowerment of those I fondly dub, “Generation “NOW.”
I grew up in Baltimore County, Maryland, where I was raised by my paternal grandmother (an exceptional leader in her” own right,” and my personal “Sheroe”). My grandmother’s premature “passing” when I was a teen and the emotional challenges of being separated from my (3) siblings (raised in foster care), fueled my passion to bring hope and transformation to the lives of others and led to my work in professional ministry and teaching. In 2010, I started Life and Grace (an inspirational Blog) as a personal reminder that through every season of my life I was only kept by God’s Amazing Grace.
When I am not Writing, Speaking or Consulting, I enjoy all genres of music, Maryland seafood, and spending time with my “boys” (Silky Terriers–Mickey and Mac).
“The world breaks everyone and afterward
many are strong at the broken places.” ~ Ernest Hemingway
“I have held many things in my hands, and have lost them all;
but whatever I placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.” ~ Martin Luther
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.
Only through the experience of trial and suffering
can the soul be strengthened and success achieved. ~ Helen Keller
Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
Twas Grace that brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me Home.
